We were sitting in the local paneteria (bakery) today taking a lunch break and a fisherman with a big smile on his face brought us a newspaper with an article featuring FlutuArte. Beaming with pride he told us people have been coming by every day to take photos of his recently painted boat. Word has been circulating about the painted harbor and many people come to the square daily to ask us questions and check out the fresh art.

Article about FlutuArte in the Rio Times
The momentum of FlutuArte continues to grow. There has been a big spike in activity after last Saturday when the project appeared on Globo, the largest television network in Brazil. Emails from curious locals have been pouring in and we are trying to keep up with all of them as well as push hard every day at the harbor so we have a chance to finish by our opening which is scheduled for Friday, June 29th. Right now we have 50 boats in progress. We have put an open call out to the community to come help us prime and varnish boats. There is much to do!
I have endless ideas for the opening party.
I will write about them next!
