Walker Fee is one of my best friends and one of the most talented and prolific artists I know. He lives and breathes his art. As I type this as I am sitting at his house in Bushwick, Brooklyn, NY surrounded by books and paintings. I sit beneath shelf over shelf filled with books of poems, philosophies, and art history as well as stacks of his own sketchbooks. His sketchbooks, like journals are richly filled with symbolic paintings, musings, poems and stories. His whole life is there.

Walker is one of my inspirations. I admire the way he is constantly overflowing with creative expression, not only through visual art but through music as well. He is a talented pianist and guitarist and also plays in a band. His work, whether musical or visual appears effortless. He will begin a canvas and an hour or two, or sometimes only moments later it is a beautiful piece filled with emotion and depth.

A piece Walker made by cutting and layering tape. See more of his tape art.

One of my favorite pieces, done entirely in dots.
