FlutuFESTA, our opening party for FlutuArte is approaching quickly and we are working really hard to have everything ready in time. Lately my stomach has been filled with knots of anxiety as day after day I’ve watched the clouds roll in. It has rained for the last week straight, making it impossible to paint at the harbor. There are fifty boats either finished or in progress, so now it’s up to us to put the final coat of protective varnish on the fished boats and up to the artists to finish the boats they have started. Things are looking good but we need sun! There are some boats that we haven’t been able to paint because the rooftops are totally broken or because they sail internationally and have to be painted yellow by law. We are able to repair a few rooftops with the money we have raised for the project. They cost about $500 to repair. If you want to become part of the project by sponsoring a boat you can send a tax deductible donation to FlutuArte. $500 will keep a fisherman’s head dry and add a painting to the FlutuArte gallery. $10 or more helps to buy paint and varnish. No donation is too small and we appreciate them all!

My original idea for FlutuFESTA~ June 29th @ 12hr.

20 boats tie together to form a circle. The inside becomes a swimming pool. Stick a live band on a boat in the center of the circle and you have something really special. Depending on the weather we may have to tie up differently, but regardless were in for a one-of-a-kind celebration!
