Dozens of bicycles lay propped up against the fence surrounding an old unique statue in the center of Rio de Janeiro. Beneath the statue are people, lots and lots of people. People dancing, chatting, talking, smoking. Brazilians are so beautiful. Not only are they nice to look at but they also exude this inner glow and openness. When you meet someone- they are your friend.

A thin guy wearing rainbow face paint around his eyes, giant gauges in his ears, a neat mustache and a bowler hat manipulates the music on his iPhone. The music blasts from speakers attached to numerous bicycles. The guy selling drinks from his bicycle cart takes a break to dance with a pretty woman in the middle of the square. Geometric patterns, plaid shirts, skinny jeans, old school flair and countless tattoos help to make up the mass of dancing figures. I spin in circles in the crowd, smiling faces and bodies spin around me.

I am at a Nuvem party.

Nuvem, meaning cloud in Portuguese, is a new type of party in Rio. A mobile party.

The crowd meets up on bicycles equipped with synced up sound systems and bike from location to location taking time to dance and enjoy each place. The parties started in February and the founders have big ideas and plans for future expansion.

I spoke with Bruno, one of the organizers and we are going to collaborate together on the FlutuFesta, the opening party for FlutuArte! Put on your fantasia, it’s time to take this cloud to sea for FlutuFesta, the floating party on painted boats in Rio de Janeiro.
