Today we went to Hauz Khas Village to meet with the gallery who will be hosting the Hearts of the World India show on June 20th, after we return from the trip. It’s the perfect spot, inside a geodesic done. The doors are large enough that we can drive our touring vehicle inside for use as a centerpiece. I am excited to give it an elaborate paint job as we go along.

After meeting with the gallery we decided to do an impromptu workshop with the local kids of Hauz Khas Village. Pankaj, our translator and I walked around asking kids if they wanted to paint. In a matter of minutes we had all the children we could handle.

They painted fruit baskets, temples, sanskrit words, flowers, village life and school life… One little girl painted a spiral of people which she said represented people coming together in unity. We asked them their greatest dream for life and two girls said they wanted to be a doctor, one girl said engineer, a boy wanted to be a painter and one said a CIA officer.

I asked the boy why he wanted to be a CIA officer and he said, “To save the nation. The police don’t do their job correctly, they bother innocent people. If I was a CIA officer I would fix that problem.

As we parted we told all of them to hold tight to their dreams, to never let them go. That life is an incredible opportunity to live them. Their faces broke into huge smiles and I know they took it to heart.
