Up up in the air again. I write you from the sky, somewhere in between NYC and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I am off to meet up with my Brazilian friend and collaborator, the talented Perola Bonfanti so we can scheme our next project, “The Aces of Perception.” A remix of The 13 Portals project, The Aces of Perception will use augmented reality and urban architecture to guide players from one door to the next, leading them to their final destination~ an interactive, immersive installation of light, sound and mystery. Perola and I will spend the next several months together creating 5 paintings consisting of 4 aces and one Joker. These paintings will be installed inside of free standing door installations which will sit in courtyards and corridors in the city of Vienna. in February Perola and I will head to Vienna to lay the groundwork for the project, meeting with our light, sound and video artists on site. Then, toward the end of the month, I will fly to Alaska, to join my mother in her sled at the ceremonial start of her 3rd Iditarod race before I return to Rio to continue working on the Aces paintings. Then its back to NYC for spring. 

I am very excited for what this year has in store… and happy now to trade my winter coat in exchange for Haviana sandals.
